TraffiGloves: Choose the right glove for you.

Being in an industry in which skill and workmanship are often at the heart of what we do, our hands have been, and always will be, the most intrinsic tool. They are our bread and butter and giving them the ability to work dexterously while still keeping them protected is paramount to our livelihoods.

The TraffiGlove system does all of this, while also ensuring that you have the right glove for the job. Split neatly into three categories - red, amber and green - each glove provides cut protection based on the EN 388 test for cut resistance, and can be further adapted to your working environment and needs.

The gloves cross language barriers with their clear associations, and continuously remind those wearing them of the cut protection which they wear on their hands. Each are so clearly identified by their colour, that at all times you can be sure that the people on your job are wearing the correct equipment, and from a glance we can assess the safety of everyone in the room, as can any health and safety officer too.

Use RED for low cut risk tasks, such as warehouse and assembly line work, general product handling and some low risk construction work. The colour also serves as a warning and a reminder, is your current glove provision up to task?

Use AMBER for a medium level of cut protection. A good choice for second fix trade work, mechanical and electrical trades, handling sharp edges and steel work.

Use GREEN for higher levels of cut protection. Best for applying cladding and metal work, handling glass or sheet metal, and dealing with swarf. They also provide a greater level of protection for those dealing with unknown waste.

Here are our top tips for choosing the right TraffiGlove for you:

  • What are you doing? Are you handling sheet glass or warehouse stock? Is it the kind of job which causes a lot of wear and tear on the hands, is it lots of heavy lifting or handling rough materials? Consider carefully the range of tasks involved in your place of work, and make a list.
  • What kind of environment are you working in? If you’re outside in the elements you might need to think about rain, or protecting hands from the cold. A very dry environment can be hard on the hands, and any oily residue might require more grip.
  • Do a full risk assessment. Identify the hazards in your workplace, and what risks they pose to your hands.

  • Test your gloves. Try them for a long time, until the end of the glove life, to see if they are working for you. Get feedback from those who use them day in, day out to check they are up to task and comfortable to work in.
  • Reassess your needs, often. Evaluating your protective equipment needs is vital in any area, keep checking that your current provisions are keeping up with what you need.
